Shlomi was founded in 1950 by immigrants from Tunisia and Morocco and has grown to about 8,200 people. It sits in the far north-west of the Galilee, near Rosh HaNikra and the coast.

The new Yaarit neighborhood is building detached homes with gardens, and a 2026 plan lets owners in the older neighborhoods add homes as long as each one gets its own safe room.
