MidNorth Coast

The coast and hills from Haifa to the Sharon: a port city, a wine town, a seaside town and two cities between Haifa and Tel Aviv.

Overview

The MidNorth Coast links the North to the Tel Aviv area. Haifa (297,082 residents), the port city on Mount Carmel, anchors its north. Zichron Yaakov (24,201), the Rothschild-era wine town, and Caesarea (5,633), beside Herod’s ancient port, sit on the Carmel’s southern edge and the coast, and Pardes Hanna-Karkur (46,601), a semi-rural town of orchards with its own station, lies between them and Hadera. Hadera, with 107,974 residents (2024) and about 7 km of coastline, sits about 45 km from both Tel Aviv and Haifa on the northern Sharon plain. Harish, 41,574 residents (2024) and still being built, rises in the hills to its east.

Trains on the coastal line stop at Hadera West. Harish lies east of Route 6, and a railway station on the Menashe line is planned there.

Haifa is Israel’s third-largest city, with 297,082 residents (2024).

Good to know

  • Harish is still being built, so schools, shops and transport are still arriving.
  • Hadera’s power station warms the sea near the coast, which draws sharks each winter (Wikipedia).
